1.The reemergence of the tank top

Tank tops have been a summer staple for years, but in 2025, they are getting a fashion rebranding. While it is the white tank top with the U-shape neckline and thicker straps that were mostly showcased in the 2025 fashion shows, there were also some outliers, with colourful prints and silver sequins often taking the runway.

2.The Skort

The skort used to be only popular among lovers of athleisure, however, in the past year it has truly made its way into the mainstream. More importantly, while in the past the skort was limited to mini lengths, over the past year, skirts over pants has become a trend for even longer pants.

While this trend is not for the faint of heart, it allows for a lot of sophistication and experimentation with your outfits.

3.Plaids and muted colours

Unlike other summers, where bright colours and intricate designs had dominated the fashion scene, this year simpler colours and plaids appear to be all the rage. Muted purples, lilac, grays, and beige all played were present in The Row ready-to-wear collection among others. These are a nod to casual and nonchalant wear that was seen more prominently in 2023.

There is also a sort of utilitarian aspect to all of this clothing, which appears to be a big trend for summer 2025. In fact, most of the trends for this season include practical fabrics, outfits and colours that can go from day to night.

4.Cargo Pants and Utility

Keeping in line with the utilitarian and practical aesthetic that many of the 2025 trends follow, cargo pants are making another comeback, specifically in light brown and olive colours that are versatile and can go with different outfits. Variations of utility shirts to be paired with these slicker cargo pants for a look that pairs comfort with functionality and style.

These type of pants also play into the masculine lines that have been seen in many of the ready-to-wear lines fo big fashion brands for this next year.
